The new team of volunteers will be on hand around Apperley Bridge to welcome visitors to the Leeds & Liverpool Canal
It will be the job of the towpath rangers to help people enjoy their time on or alongside the Liverpool & Leeds Canal. They will be based near the West Yorkshire city of Bradford.
As this year marks the 200th anniversary of the UK’s longest single canal, the waterway has attracted more visitors than normal, which has led the Canal & River Trust to recruit a team of volunteers.
Matt Taylor, the CRT’s North West volunteer coordinator, said: “This is a great way to meet new people and play a valuable role in helping visitors enjoy themselves.”
