Canals
THE FOSSDYKE NAVIGATIONThe Fossdyke may well be our oldest canal, having been built by the Romans to connect Lincoln to the Trent at Torksey – a function it still fulfils today. Boats entering or leaving the Fossdyke from the Trent will need to check tide tables as the lock is only usable at certain states of tide. In Lincoln the Fossdyke meets the Witham in the wide expanse of Brayford Pool, near the centre of the city.11 miles 1 lockMaximum dimensions: length 75ft, beam 15ft 3in
