River Derwent
RIVER DERWENT
The Derwent is a quiet, rural navigation famed for its wildlife interest. Although it was formerly navigable through the Yorkshire Wolds to Malton, a court case in the 1980s put a stop to restoration plans. However the navigable section from the Yorkshire Ouse to Stamford Bridge, although seldom visited and only accessible via the tidal Ouse, is an attractive waterway in its own right and also provides a vital link to the Pocklington Canal, which is under restoration and likely to reopen throughout in the next few years.22 miles 2 locksMaximum dimensions: length 62ft, beam 16ft 6in
