River Ure

RIVER URE

The Ure is the name given to the quiet, pretty upper reaches of the river which lower down becomes the Yorkshire Ouse. The river passes through the town of Boroughbridge, but elsewhere it flows through remote countryside with villages set well back from the waterside. At the upper limit of the waterway, boats pass via Oxclose Lock into the Ripon Canal for the final two and a half miles to the city.13 miles 2 locksMaximum dimensions: length 57ft, beam 14ft 6in
