Crinan Canal

CRINAN CANAL

The Crinan Canal was built to provide a short-cut to save ships from having to make the passage around the Mull of Kintyre. At only eight miles long with 15 locks, the canal is of limited interest to inland boaters, but it still fulfils its original function for sea-going craft while its towpath makes an excellent walk or cycle ride.8 miles 15 locksMaximum dimensions: length 88ft, beam 20ft
